Methuselah

And Methuselah lived an hundred eighty and seven years, and begot Lamech.. . . So all the days of Methuselah were nine-hundred and sixty nine years; and he died  -Genesis 5:25

Methuselah is from the first book of the bible Genesis.   When referred to his name, it means something that is very old or even the oldest.  In the book of Genesis, there is a listing of generations of who was the child of who.  Methuselah is  the son of Enoch, and the father of Lamech, he lived nine hundred sixty nine years.  Today, because of the biblical reference, people use the name to describe something being old.  The term has no deep meaning but is just lightly used for its description.  People use it in pictures, movies, advertisements, books, poems, and many others.

To the left is a Methuselah Tree,

without knowing the background of
 Methuselah, one wouldn't know the
 reasoning behind the tree.  Methuselah,
because she was so old, had a tree in
her name. The tree has the resemblance
of something old, so there is the allusion
 to the biblical Methuselah

It makes things gone perpetually to lastAnd calls back months and years that long since fledIt makes a man more aged in conceit,Than was Methuselah or’s grand-sire great:While of their persons and their acts his mind doth treat.-Contemplations by Anne Bradstreet( again referring to                                                              old age)

Alpha and Omega

" I am Alpha and Omega the beginning and the end" -Revelations 1:8
Alpha and omega is from the final book of the bible Revelations. It's meaning today is a symbol of beginnings and endings because Alpha is the first letter of the Greek alphabet (α ) and Omega is the last (Ω, ω ).
Many times, the term, Alpha and Omega, is used to make a point.  One example would be in a song such as Lil' Wayne's So Dedicated.  In his song , there is a line that references Alpha and Omega
It’s YMCMB the f****** alpha and omega

It uses the allusion to say that the billionaire is at the top of the world the alpha and omega.  The connection comes from the biblical verse because it says that God is alpha and omega, so whoever would be alpha and omega would be like God.
Other forms of allusions of the term can be as pictures and poems

to the left is Alpha, and the right Omega
I am one and I am the other.
                      I am both as one.
I am good as there is no bad.

I am the only one as there is no other.

                      Then there are Advertisements
